Sage 50 US Sync Error - "There is more than one company with id..." Duplicate companies in the Sync Tool drop down, not able to initiate the first sync.

Problem:
Customers who use the backup/restore feature in Sage 50 US to create new copies of existing companies have issues with syncing the files for these companies. 

Resolution:
We need to make sure that the company client would like to sync with has a unique company name
. Companies that they don't intend to sync or use can have duplicate names (although it might be best practice to give all company files unique names).

To rename, simply do the following in Sage 50 US. Go to "Maintain->Company Information" in Sage 50 US and enter a new value for the Company Name.
