SmartSync for desktop accounting systems requires a dedicated Windows User to ensure that the application has the necessary access to your accounting system. Without this dedicated user, you might encounter sync errors that impede your workflow. On your server create a user with the following:
- Full Control on C:\ProgramData\BeanworksSyncTool. If you are unable to locate C:\ProgramData\BeanworksSyncTool, check that Hidden Items are visible.
- Full Control on the path to your accounting system's company file.
For Sage 100, the SmartSync Windows user requires specific authorization to the mentioned file paths. For all other accounting systems, the user can be granted access as part of a user group. If you encounter any issues with granting permissions, please reach out to your IT Administrator.
