SmartSync Task Scheduler for QuickBooks Desktop

Modified on Wed, 18 Jan, 2023 at 10:37 AM

Overview

SmartSync requires a dedicated Windows User to run both the SmartSync applications and ERP applications. The requirements for this user can be found here. For QuickBooks Desktop, there are additional steps to ensure that this Windows User always runs the applications. This will help prevent sync errors between Beanworks and QuickBooks Desktop.

  • Please note that the following actions must be completed by a server administrator.

Open Task Scheduler, and select Create Basic Task.

This opens the Create Basic Task Wizard. Select 'When the computer starts for the Trigger. Select 'Start a program' for the action. The file path is the location of the SmartSyncConnector.exe file, which is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartSync\SmartSyncConnector.exe.

Click Next to move to the Finish window and review the task. Click 'Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish', and click finish to open the task Properties window.

Under General, ensure that the user running the task is your dedicated Windows user for SmartSync. Select 'Run whether the user is logged on or not' and 'Run with the highest privileges'. Select 'Windows Server 2016' from the Configure for dropdown.

Under Settings, uncheck the 'Stop the task if it runs longer than' and 'If the running task does not end when requested, force it to stop' checkboxes. Click OK.

Once you click OK, you will be prompted to enter your password to save the changes. After this, navigate to Task Manager Library. Locate the Beanworks SmartSync task, right click it and select Run. This will enable the task going forward.
