Please ensure that you've completed the Sage 50 Canada - Pre-installation Connection Checklist before continuing any further with this guide. Installing SyncToll requires administrator access to the server environment where Sage 50 CA is installed. You may need assistance from your IT provider if you do not have this access.
Downloading SyncTool for Sage 50 Canada
In Settings, click ERP Management. Select the Legal Entity in question, and click Get SyncTool.
Two files will download - SyncTool.msi and Settings.json. Open and run SyncTool.msi to begin the installation. If the files do not download, please ensure you are logged into a browser that supports multiple file downloads at once such as Chrome or Firefox.
Configuring SyncTool for Sage 50 Canada
After downloading and running SyncTool.msi, allow a few minutes for SyncTool to install. Search for SyncTool in your start menu to locate and open the program.
Opening SyncTool will bring you to the Integration tab.
All fields in the Integration tab are needed for the sync to be successful. Here is what they mean in more detail:
- Version: This is the version of Sage 50 CA you are running. If you do not see your current version of Sage 50 CA in the dropdown menu, please reach out to our Support team.
- Database: This is the file path to your Sage 50 CA .sai file.
- Username: This is the Sage 50 CA Admin username.
- Password: This is the 50 CA Admin password.
- Zero Tax Code: This is the 50 CA Tax Code which records Zero tax amounts. Press Choose to open a pop-up menu where you can select the correct Tax Code.
Once all fields in the Integration tab are filled in, click into the SFTP tab. Here you need to enter the SFTP username and password given to you by Quadient AP. If you don't have access to this, please contact our Support team or your Customer Success Manager. The Host, Port, and SSH Key fields will be pre-populated for you. Click Save to save the information entered in the Integration & SFTP tabs.
Syncing with Sage 50 CA
Before running a sync, ensure that all users are logged out of Sage 50 CA. Click the Sync button to initiate a sync between Quadient AP and Sage 50 CA. You'll be brought to the Log tab of SyncTool where you can see the sync progression.
A successful sync will be all green. Warning messages in yellow will alert you to minor issues during the sync, and red error messages will alert you to sync errors or reasons for a sync to fail. For any errors or warning messages you're unsure of, please reach out to our Support team.
Syncing with Sage Drive/Remote Data Access
Sage 50 CA's Remote Data Access allows you to upload and share your Sage 50 company file remotely. When this feature is active, you will be unable to sync Quadient AP and Sage 50 CA. Follow the steps below to pause Remote Data Access and sync with Quadient AP.
- Open Sage 50 CA in single-user mode
- Under File, select Remote Data Access and click Pause Sharing
- Close Sage 50 CA
- Run a sync between Quadient AP and Sage 50 CA
- Open Sage 50 CA and confirm your invoices have synced successfully
- Under File, select Remote Data Access again and click Resume Sharing
At this point, you can return to multi-user mode in Sage 50 CA. Once you resume sharing, all synced invoices will be available via Remote Data Access.
